ALARM's main focus is to explore and critically
reflect upon the rock, punk, hip hop and metal
independent/underground music scenes. Each issue
also includes creative writing, fiction, social
commentary and the visual arts. In depth
interviews with artists include everything from
popular rock bands that see regular rotation on
MTV and the radio, to alternative bands that will
someday be controlling the airwaves. The goal of
the magazine is to broaden the reader's horizons,
to make the punk rocker look at him/herself in the
world and realize there is something more
important than rebellion, and to make the
introvert aware of the problems within our
communities that not only need to be addressed but
acted on. Many different personalities come
together in the creation of ALARM, and it is this
diversity of perspective that provides the reader
with a rich and substantive outlook on our current
situation in the world. |
