Publishd by the Center for Woodlands Education, NORTHERN WOODLANDS seeks to
present a new way of looking at the forest with a focus on the forests of the
north. It will appeal to environmentalists, outdoorsmen, nature lvoers, as
well as loggers, lumber interests, and ordinary citizens. It provides
information about wildlife, plants, trees, forest ecology, and forestry in New
England and New York, trying to strike a balance between the claims of the
forest industry and environmental groups. Anyone who spends time outdoors will
learn about their surroundings and those who own a place in the country will
learn how to be good stewards of their land. Articles in the magazine range
from short pieces on forestry and wildlife and new discoveries in science, to
highlights of local species and reviews of forestry related books. Features
articles focus on the value, use and conservation of our forests. |
